Logging into your management screen

Your site might not look just the way you want it at first, but that is where you come in. Log in and change your template, colors, etc. per the instructions below.

You can access your content manager by going to your site's address and typing /manage at the end like so:

http://yourdomain.bytepages.com/manage

You will see a screen to log in. The temporary password is provided to you in the instruction email you received. We recommend you change your password as soon as you log in the first time, by clicking the "Users" tab immediately after your log in is accepted.

VERY IMPORTANT: Please do not begin editing your site until you have read your instruction email, as well as "Starting from scratch" help docs links on this site.

Once you have the structure built (see Getting started), you can start adding or editing content on these pages. For help with the content editor go here:

Editor toolbar

You should find editing text very straight forward. Navigate to the page you wish to change through the 'Content' tab. Click the 'Manage Content' button for the page you want to edit and a menu bar will appear that is very similar to using a word processor program. PLEASE DO NOT copy and paste from Word into this editor. Word will bring in a LOT of unnecessary margin and font code that will throw your spacing off on the screen. It is recommended that you type your text directly in the editor, or type it first in a plain text program like Notepad, Wordpad, or TextEdit, then copy and paste it from there.

When you start editing your site, don't ever put your email address into the body of the site. You will get bombarded with junk email if you do. Instead, link to your contact page. That way spammers can't get your email address, but your clients will when you respond to the email you get through your contact page.
