Your web address

Please Note: Your web address is also known as your domain, and your domain is NOT the same thing as your website's files. You will purchase your web address on a yearly basis, and it will point to your website's files, which will be located on our web servers. You will pay a monthly hosting fee for hosting your website's files on our servers.

As you place your order for your new BytePages template site, you will also have the option to purchase your new web address to be used with your new site. It will be part of the ordering process. When you purchase your web address this way, we will give you one free domain-based email account as part of your purchase price. Additional email accounts will add $1 to the monthly web hosting fee per account. You can go here ahead of time to see if the domain you would like is available. Feel free to order it now, or wait until you are prompted during your site order process.

Ordering your new web address though BytePages makes things simple for you. There are technical things that happen behind the scenes that we are then able to do on your behalf; for example, pointing your web address to your website's files on our server. Normally these changes would be your responsibility, but we are happy to provide this service to you.

If you prefer to host your web address elsewhere, and have sole control over its maintenance, we can accommodate that as well. You will have the option to opt-out of the web address purchase step during your site order process. You will need to provide us with your purchased web address at the point of purchasing your new BytePages template site though, so purchase your web address in advance of your site purchase. If you purchase your web address, and decide to host your email elsewhere, you will forfeit the free email account we offer as part of the web address purchase through us. See 'Purchasing your own domain' under the 'Your web address' tab above for futher instructions.

Once a web address is assigned to your site, it can only be changed for a fee. For this reason, you should carefully consider what your web address should be. You should also research your choices for possible trademark infringements, or the possibility that clients may confuse your domain with other sites that have similar domains.
